Meet at Sowerby Bridge Town Hall
Heritage Walk around Central Sowerby Bridge
Setting off at 11:00, finishes 12:30
Local historian Michael Gray PhD will lead a heritage walk around central Sowerby Bridge to highlight the fabulous industrial heritage with stops to discuss important points.
Detailing the history of a town at the forefront of technological advancement in the United Kingdom and its links with all corners of the world, this includes ‘Sowerby Bridge 1 London 0’ regarding the pioneering development of gas-lighting.
Maps detailing the route and points of interest will be provided in the Town Hall from 10.30. The walk is mostly on the flat, but some going uphill is necessary and will take 90 minutes, completing 12.30 pm. Do bring clothing and footwear appropriate for a town walk.
Sowerby Bridge Industrial Heritage Walk II
Setting off at 13:30 finishes roughly 17:30
A heritage walk to be led by Christopher Goddard and Michael Gray to launch the new Sowerby Bridge Industrial Heritage Walk II [Sowerby Bridge-Copley-Wainhouse Tower-Warley Clough (SB)].
A 6 mile (9 km) walk with an ascent of 180m (600 feet) this walk will take around 4 hours with stops to discuss pertinent points.
Maps detailing the route and points of interest will be provided in the Town Hall. Some walking up the side of the valley is required. Stout footwear and waterproofs are recommended.

It’s official! Our duck armada will be racing along the River Calder! Finishing below The Moorings let’s see who will be crowned the winner!
Of course most of you will enter purely for the bragging rights but just in case you need any persuading:
First place = £500
Second Place = £200
Third Place = £100
Ducks available from select venues across the festival on Saturday. On Sunday, ducks will be sold at The Loose Goose until 12:00.
